Diablo 4 Patch 3.2.4, released October 28, 2026, raises Prime Evil Splinter stacks from one to 99 across platforms, giving Season 15 players more room once they consolidate loose copies. Sort gear with spare room, and browse Diablo 4 Items for a specific slot; the cap changes storage, not drops.
Prime Evil Splinter Stacks Hold 99
A 99-item cap makes Prime Evil Splinters take far fewer spaces in Diablo 4, but the savings depend on gathering loose copies into stacks. Before Patch 3.2.4, each splinter used its own slot; now one stack can hold as many as 99. That changes storage, not supply: the patch doesn't raise drop rates or alter the powers tied to Terror, Destruction, and Hatred. Existing single splinters won't combine just because you log in, so move and consolidate them before judging the space you have. Anything beyond a full stack still needs another slot, so count overflow before a long run.
1) After updating to Build #74043, log in and check your Prime Evil Splinters in inventory and stash before starting a long activity.
2) Move loose copies together to consolidate them manually, then confirm the tooltip shows a maximum of 99 for each stack.
3) Next, clear stash space occupied by singles and reserve the freed slots for gear you want to review after a run.
Spend Freed Slots on Gear
Recovered slots from 99-count Prime Evil Splinter stacks are most useful when you keep gear for comparison instead of salvaging it mid-run. If you routinely fill your bag during Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, or the Pit, put the space toward Legendary and Unique drops you want to compare before salvaging; sorting at the end lowers the chance of discarding an upgrade too early. For a stash, move splinters out of any tab built around loose copies, then assign those spaces to gear sets or alternate setups. The benefit is largest when splinters were crowding out items you needed to inspect.
● If you keep fewer than 99 splinters, consolidation can free several slots at once, depending on how many loose copies you left in one tab.
● If your stash was already arranged for gear, spend the freed inventory room on materials or gems only when you need it.
● If you farm less often, the extra capacity may have little day-to-day value; prioritize gear organization over rebuilding your entire stash.
Reality check: Stacks save space only after consolidation; they do not improve drop rates, alter Prime Evil powers, or make rare gear easier to find.
Respect the Cap and Season Timing
The 99 cap isn't unlimited storage: once one stack reaches its limit, additional splinters still need room elsewhere during long farming sessions. That matters if you've accumulated a reserve or leave cleanup until the end of a session; consolidate first, then check for leftovers before setting out. The update leaves drop rates, Splinter powers, and Prime Evil ability strength unchanged, so it won't solve a farming shortage or improve a build by itself. With Season 15 nearing its close, use recovered room for goals you can finish now; don't reorganize around Season 16 plans you may not use.
● Before a long Helltide or dungeon run, verify that old singles are consolidated and check for any stack already at 99.
● Keep an overflow slot available when your total exceeds 99; the cap doesn't compress every amount into one space.
● For a gear experiment, retain drops until you can compare them; the patch creates room but doesn't identify upgrades for you.
Consolidate Before Rebuilding Your Stash
Log in after Patch 3.2.4, consolidate older splinters, and confirm the 99 limit before reorganizing your stash. If a specific slot remains open after that check, compare buy Diablo IV Items listings against your setup for that build before deciding on your next move.
